Privacy Policy

The nutrient values you type into LabelCheck are never sent to us. There is no account, no database, and no copy of your label on our side. This page explains that claim precisely, and lists the few things we do collect.
The short version
- Your label data stays in your browser. The rounding, the panels and the change report are all computed by JavaScript running on your own device. Nothing about your product is transmitted to us.
- We have no user accounts and no customer database. There is nowhere for us to store your data even if we wanted to.
- We never see your card details. Payment is handled entirely by Creem, which is the merchant of record for the sale.
- We do not sell or share personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
What stays on your device
Everything you enter into the checker — product name, serving size, servings per container, and every nutrient value — is held in your browser only.
When you start a purchase, those values are written to your browser's localStorage under the key labelcheck_input_v1 so that they are still there when you return from the payment page. That store lives on your device. It is not transmitted anywhere, and we cannot read it.
We also keep a small set of counters in localStorage (keys beginning lc_) recording how many times certain buttons were pressed on your device. They contain no personal data and never leave your browser.
You can delete all of it at any time by clearing site data for this site in your browser settings. Nothing about your purchase or your files depends on those keys surviving.
The consequence of that design: if you clear your browser storage, use a different device, or use private browsing, the values you entered before paying will not be there when you return. The delivery page asks you to type them again rather than failing. Your purchase is not lost.
What we do collect
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-QMZHEEY3JD) to count page views and to see which parts of the page people use. It records things like the page you are on, your approximate location derived from your IP address, your device and browser type, and identifiers stored in cookies or local storage by Google.
We send named events for actions such as pressing the purchase button, completing an unlock and downloading a file. Those events carry no nutrient values, no product names and nothing else you typed.
Google processes this data as our service provider and under its own terms. You can prevent it entirely with a browser setting or extension that blocks Google Analytics; the checker and the paid files work exactly the same either way.
Your email address, only if you give it
If you submit the email form on the home page, we receive the address you typed. It is handled by Netlify Forms, our hosting provider's form service, and we use it only to contact you about LabelCheck. We do not add it to any advertising list and we do not pass it to anyone else. Ask us and we will delete it.
Server logs
Our host, Netlify, records standard web server information for the requests that reach it, including IP address, timestamp, requested path and user agent. This is ordinary infrastructure logging that every website has, and we use it only to keep the site running and secure.
Payment information
We do not receive or store your card number, billing address or any other payment detail. When you buy the print pack you are sent to a checkout page hosted by Creem, and Creem handles the payment.
After you return, our server asks Creem a single question about the purchase reference in your address bar: was this checkout completed and paid, for this product, at this price. The answer is yes or no. We do not copy your name, your email address or anything else about you out of that answer — the response our page receives contains one field, and that field is whether the purchase was paid.
Creem is the merchant of record. Legally, Creem sells you the files, not us. Your payment is a transaction with Creem, the charge on your card statement carries Creem's name, and Creem's own privacy policy governs the personal data you give it during checkout.
Cookies
LabelCheck sets no cookies of its own. The only cookies or comparable identifiers that may be set are Google Analytics', described above. We use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How long we keep things
Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings and Google's own retention rules. Email addresses submitted through the form are kept until you ask us to delete them or until we no longer need them. Server logs are kept for the period our host retains them. Your label data has no retention period because we never receive it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how it is used. Because the only personal data we hold is an email address you chose to give us, most requests amount to "delete my address", which we will do promptly.
For anything relating to your payment — a receipt, a refund, the personal data you entered at checkout — Creem is the controller of that data as merchant of record, and we will point you to them.
Children
LabelCheck is a tool for people preparing regulated food labels. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be described here rather than made silently.
